What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the outcomes of patients with early-stage epithelial ovarian cancer who have undergone minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic or robotic techniques. It aims to assess post-surgery complications, including rates of readmission and re-operation, as well as cancer outcomes like survival rates and the incidence of cancer upstaging. The study compares outcomes between patients treated with minimally invasive surgery and those who underwent traditional open surgery. By analyzing these two groups, the study seeks to provide insights into the effectiveness and safety of minimally invasive approaches for this condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with early-stage epithelial ovarian cancer who have undergone surgical treatment between January 2014 and December 2023.

Not a fit: Patients who have not completed surgical staging or those who have undergone neoadjuvant chemotherapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide evidence supporting the use of minimally invasive surgery as a safer and more effective treatment option for early-stage ovarian cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with minimally invasive surgical techniques in various cancers, suggesting potential success for this approach in ovarian cancer as well.
