What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the malignant potential of non-functional neuroendocrine tumors located in the body and tail of the pancreas that are 3 cm or smaller. By collecting real-world data from major pancreatic surgery centers across the country, the study will evaluate the effectiveness of parenchyma-sparing resection versus oncologic resection. The research will also include a histopathological review and follow-up on long-term prognosis and quality of life for patients. The findings may help clarify surgical management guidelines for these tumors.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with non-functional neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreatic body and tail that are 3 cm or smaller.

Not a fit: Patients with liver or distant metastasis, concomitant malignancies, or those with multifocal or recurrent disease may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical management and outcomes for patients with small non-functional pancreatic tumors.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for similar approaches, indicating that parenchyma-sparing techniques can yield favorable outcomes compared to traditional oncologic resections.
