What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of an infection control program designed to reduce the incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) among hospitalized patients requiring urinary catheterization. The intervention involves implementing specific infection control measures at Sohag University Hospital. Adult patients who are catheterized during their hospitalization will be monitored for CAUTIs to determine the program's impact on infection rates.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult patients aged 18 and older who require urinary catheterization during their hospital stay.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of urinary tract infections prior to hospitalization or those with indwelling catheters for more than 14 days may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the occurrence of urinary tract infections in hospitalized patients, improving patient outcomes and safety.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in reducing CAUTIs through infection control programs, indicating that this approach is supported by prior evidence.
