What this trial studies
This cluster randomized controlled trial aims to assess the effectiveness of demand-side incentives (DSIs) in enhancing immunization coverage and reducing the number of zero-dose children aged 12-23 months in Nigeria. The study will investigate the impact of various incentive schemes on vaccination rates, timeliness of vaccinations, and the knowledge and perceptions of caregivers regarding immunization. By focusing on selected subnational regions, the trial seeks to provide insights into how financial and logistical support can improve public health outcomes. The trial is expected to conclude by December 2025.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are caregivers of children aged 0-23 months who reside in the selected regions of Nigeria.
Not a fit: Caregivers of children older than 23 months will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly increase immunization rates and reduce the number of unvaccinated children in Nigeria.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using demand-side incentives to improve health outcomes, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
