What this trial studies
This study evaluates the efficacy of hepatitis B vaccine boosters in children who were vaccinated at birth in Chongqing, China. It focuses on assessing both humoral and cellular immune responses to determine the need for booster vaccinations as the protective effects of the initial vaccination may diminish over time. The study involves observing children who have completed their primary immunization without having received any booster doses. By analyzing immune responses, the research aims to provide insights into the necessity and timing of hepatitis B vaccine boosters.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children born after January 1, 2005, in Chongqing, China, who have completed their primary hepatitis B vaccination.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously received a hepatitis B booster vaccine will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help establish guidelines for hepatitis B vaccine boosters, potentially improving long-term immunity in children.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing debate regarding the necessity of hepatitis B vaccine boosters, similar studies have shown varying results, indicating that this area of research is still evolving.
