Evaluating heart health indicators in multiple myeloma treatment
Cardiac Toxicity and Prognostic Value of New Echocardiographic Indicators in the Treatment of Primary Multiple Myeloma
This study is trying to find new ways to check heart health in people with multiple myeloma to help manage heart problems that might come up during their cancer treatment.

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on patients with multiple myeloma to identify new echocardiographic indicators that can help monitor cardiac toxicity during treatment. It aims to establish predictive models based on these indicators to improve the management of cardiovascular complications associated with chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. The study will involve systematic follow-up monitoring of patients undergoing RVd induction therapy, assessing their heart health before, during, and after treatment. By understanding the relationship between cancer treatment and cardiovascular health, the study seeks to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-70 diagnosed with multiple myeloma who are planning to undergo RVd induction therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cardiovascular diseases or other systemic amyloidosis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better monitoring and management of cardiac health in multiple myeloma patients, potentially improving their overall treatment outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on cardiac toxicity in cancer treatment, this approach of using echocardiographic indicators for systematic monitoring in multiple myeloma is relatively novel.
