What this trial studies
This observational study assesses the effectiveness of the health care program for Danish children and adolescents with gender incongruence, initiated in January 2016. It focuses on both somatic outcomes, such as growth, bone health, and hormone levels, and psychosocial factors, including mental health and social context. The study aims to characterize the psychosocial profiles of participants and systematically evaluate biological parameters during hormonal treatment. By analyzing these factors, the study seeks to improve individual health care for this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and adolescents who have been referred to the gender identity service.
Not a fit: Patients who are not experiencing gender incongruence or who have not been referred to the gender identity service may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the health care and support provided to young people experiencing gender incongruence.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be similar studies, this particular approach focusing on the comprehensive evaluation of both biological and psychosocial parameters in this demographic is relatively novel.
