Evaluating genes related to hypoxia and autophagy in vitiligo patients
Assessment of Hypoxia Inducible Factor and Autophagy Related Genes in Patients With Non-Segmental Vitiligo

What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the presence of Hypoxia Inducible Factor and defects in Autophagy Related Genes in patients with non-segmental vitiligo. It will involve a punch biopsy procedure to collect samples for analysis. The research will focus on understanding the relationship between these genetic factors and the pathogenesis of vitiligo among Egyptian patients in Sohag Governorate. A control group will also be included for comparative purposes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with non-segmental vitiligo.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have chronic inflammatory skin disorders, or are currently on certain medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to a better understanding of vitiligo's underlying mechanisms and potentially inform new treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies exploring similar genetic factors in other conditions, this specific approach in vitiligo is relatively novel and untested.
