Evaluating gait initiation in patients with hip arthritis after surgery
Gait Initiation and Transition From Double to Single Support in Patients With Unilateral Primary Coxarthrosis Who Have Not Undergone Surgery and Before/After Arthroplasty
This study is testing how different hip surgeries affect the way people with hip arthritis start walking and move their legs.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of prosthetic surgery on the gait initiation and transition from double to single support in patients suffering from unilateral primary coxarthrosis. Participants will undergo a three-dimensional gait analysis to measure both kinematic parameters, such as joint amplitudes, and dynamic parameters, including joint torques during gait initiation. The goal is to understand how different surgical interventions, like total hip prosthesis and hip resurfacing, impact lower limb movement. This research aims to provide insights that could improve rehabilitation strategies for these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are men and women aged 18 and over with unilateral primary coxarthrosis who are consulting for hip surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with disabling orthopedic conditions, neurological diseases, or cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation protocols for patients undergoing hip surgery, enhancing their mobility and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored gait analysis in hip surgery patients, this specific focus on gait initiation and transition in unilateral primary coxarthrosis is relatively novel.
