What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on individuals diagnosed with systemic sclerosis (SSc) to assess how the condition impacts their functionality and quality of life. It employs various scales, including the modified Rodnan skin score and the BETY-Biopsychosocial Questionnaire, to evaluate the biopsychosocial effects of SSc. The study aims to understand the characteristics of individuals who manage their health despite chronic disease, using functional performance tests and psychosocial assessments. By gathering this data, the study seeks to highlight the multifaceted challenges faced by patients with SSc.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18-65 who have been diagnosed with systemic sclerosis and are literate.

Not a fit: Patients with severe musculoskeletal disabilities, pulmonary hypertension, or severe neuropsychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights that improve the quality of life and functional outcomes for patients with systemic sclerosis.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies focusing on the quality of life in systemic sclerosis, this specific biopsychosocial approach is relatively novel.
