Evaluating facial symmetry improvements after botulinum toxin injections
Contributions of 3D Photography and Stereophotogrammetry to the Evaluation of Facial Symmetrization Through Botulinum Toxin Injections, in Patients With Peripheral Facial Palsy

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the effectiveness of botulinum toxin injections in improving facial symmetry in patients with sequelae of peripheral facial paralysis. Utilizing 3D photography and stereophotogrammetry, the study will objectively measure changes in facial symmetry before and after treatment. A minimum of 15 patients will be included, with facial images captured using the Vectra H2 Imaging System at specified intervals. The analysis will focus on various symmetry metrics to quantify treatment outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who have received botulinum toxin injections for facial symmetrization due to peripheral facial paralysis.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of corrective facial surgery, significant facial surgeries, neurodegenerative diseases, or skin imperfections may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more objective method for evaluating the effectiveness of botulinum toxin in restoring facial symmetry for affected patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of 3D imaging in facial assessments is established, the specific application of this methodology to evaluate botulinum toxin effects in this context is relatively novel.
Eligibility criteria
