Evaluating eyelid surgery outcomes with 3D imaging
Objective Evaluation of the Effect of Oculoplastic Operations Using the Vectra M 3D Imaging System
This study is testing a new way to measure how well eyelid surgery works for people with droopy eyelids or other eyelid problems by using advanced 3D imaging technology.

What this trial studies
This project aims to develop a methodology for objectively assessing the results of eyelid surgeries, specifically focusing on conditions like eyelid ptosis, ectropion, and entropion. Using the Vectra M3 stereo photographic system, the study will measure eyelid position, periorbital volume, and the relationship of eyelids to the surrounding facial landscape before and after surgical interventions. The study will involve two groups: one undergoing lateral canthal hinge surgery and the other ptosis surgery through an anterior approach, with a target cohort of 40 patients in each group.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with eyelid ptosis, ectropion, or entropion.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse to participate or are unable to cooperate in the study may not receive any benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more objective and reliable method for evaluating the outcomes of eyelid surgeries, leading to improved patient satisfaction and surgical techniques.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of 3D imaging in surgical evaluations is gaining traction, this specific application in eyelid surgery is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
