Evaluating endoscopic tip control for polypectomy procedures
Tip Control Assessment to Determine the Accuracy of Snare Tip Soft Coagulation to the Margin of Defects After EMR Predicts Polypectomy Experience and Procedural Difficulty
University Hospital, Ghent · NCT05660317
This study is testing a new way to measure how well doctors control the endoscope during polyp removal to see if it can make these procedures safer and more effective for patients.

What this trial studies
This observational study assesses endoscopic tip control using a novel scoring system based on the snare tip soft coagulation technique for colorectal polyp removal. The study involves endoscopists at the University Hospital of Ghent who perform endoscopic mucosal resections (EMR) and patients over 18 years referred for EMR. By analyzing the effectiveness of tip control during these procedures, the study aims to enhance the quality and safety of endoscopic interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients over 18 years old referred for endoscopic mucosal resections needing snare tip soft coagulation.
Not a fit: Patients who are not undergoing endoscopic mucosal resections or who do not consent to participate may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the precision and outcomes of endoscopic polypectomy procedures, potentially reducing colorectal cancer incidence.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific scoring system is novel, similar studies have shown that improved endoscopic techniques can enhance patient outcomes.
