Evaluating early showering after heart surgery
Effects of Early Postoperative Showering After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Using Bilateral Internal Thoracic Artery
NA · Sejong General Hospital · NCT06237283

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of early postoperative showering on patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting using bilateral internal thoracic arteries. The intervention involves allowing patients to shower shortly after surgery, with the aim of assessing its impact on wound healing and infection rates. The study includes patients over 18 years old who have had their drains and pacing wires removed, ensuring they are stable for this intervention. By comparing outcomes between those who shower early and those who do not, the study seeks to provide insights into postoperative care practices.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting with bilateral internal thoracic arteries and have had their drains or pacing wires removed.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone concomitant operations, have open wounds, active infections, or prolonged ICU stays due to serious complications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved recovery protocols and reduced infection rates for patients after heart surgery.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of early showering post-surgery may be novel, similar studies on postoperative care have shown promising results in improving recovery outcomes.
