What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the safety and validity of a virtual reality (VR) driving simulator designed to evaluate the driving abilities of healthy adults, particularly those in high-risk groups such as the elderly or individuals with medical conditions. By measuring both physical and cognitive functions, the study seeks to establish correlations between these outcomes and the results from the VR simulator. This innovative approach allows for an objective assessment of driving skills without the spatial limitations of traditional testing methods, potentially leading to improved safety training for drivers. The study will involve various interventions, including a VR driving simulator and on-road driving tests.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals over the age of 19 who are currently driving and can understand and follow instructions.
Not a fit: Patients with severe medical conditions that restrict their ability to participate in the simulator or those with significant mobility issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the evaluation process for driving abilities, leading to safer driving practices among high-risk individuals.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of VR technology for driving assessment is a novel approach, similar studies have shown promise in evaluating cognitive and physical abilities in other contexts.
