Evaluating Diathermy Therapy's Impact on Lumbar Extension Training
The Effect of Diathermy Therapy on Isolated Lumbar Extension (ILEX) Training
NA · University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland · NCT06852872

What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Isolated Back Extension (ILEX) machine Myosom and the influence of preheating on resistance training. A cohort of 14 healthy individuals, both male and female, with no prior experience in ILEX training will participate in a 9-week program consisting of 18 sessions. Baseline measurements will be taken before training, followed by two follow-up assessments after the ninth and eighteenth sessions to evaluate changes in lumbar muscle thickness, flexibility, and endurance. Participants will also provide feedback on their perceived effort and discomfort during the training.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy individuals aged 18 to 30 who are pain-free and have no prior experience with ILEX training.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of lumbar spine surgery, low back pain, or other related disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance resistance training protocols for improved lumbar muscle strength and endurance.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies on resistance training have shown promise, the specific combination of diathermy therapy and ILEX training in this context is relatively novel.
