What this trial studies
This study aims to assess core stability and balance performance in adult female hip-hop dancers and compare these metrics with those of healthy non-dancer females. Participants will undergo physical performance tests and complete surveys regarding their injury history and occurrences over three months. The study will focus on understanding the relationship between core stability, balance, and injury rates, particularly in the context of hip-hop dance, which has been less studied compared to other dance forms. The findings may provide insights into injury prevention strategies for dancers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy adult females aged 18 and older who actively participate in hip-hop dance.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of spinal or abdominal surgery, pregnancy, or those with visual and balance impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved injury prevention strategies for female hip-hop dancers.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on dance injuries have primarily focused on ballet, the unique focus on hip-hop dance in this study represents a novel approach with limited prior research.
