What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess early postoperative complications following laparoscopic surgery performed in the Trendelenburg position with pneumoperitoneum. It will analyze the relationship between hemodynamic and metabolic changes during surgery and their impact on perioperative outcomes. The study will involve patients who are expected to undergo surgery lasting more than two hours and will require arterial catheter insertion for monitoring. By collecting data on these variables, the study seeks to identify predictors of complications in this surgical context.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients classified as ASA Class I-IV who are scheduled for laparoscopic surgery in the Trendelenburg position lasting over two hours.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, require open abdominal surgery, or are undergoing renal replacement therapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve patient safety and outcomes by identifying risk factors for complications in laparoscopic surgeries.

How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach is observational, similar studies have shown success in identifying predictors of complications in various surgical settings.
