Evaluating changes in antibiotic testing and prescriptions
Modification of Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing: Evaluation of the Impact of This Change on Antibiotic Prescriptions at the Nancy Regional University Hospital

What this trial studies
This observational study assesses the impact of new recommendations for antibiotic susceptibility testing on the prescription of antibiotics for patients with infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The study compares antibiotic therapy prescribed before and after the implementation of these recommendations at Nancy University Hospital. By analyzing samples from hospitalized patients, the study aims to determine if the changes in testing criteria lead to more effective antibiotic use.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include hospitalized patients with confirmed infections from Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Staphylococcus aureus who underwent antibiotic susceptibility testing during the specified periods.
Not a fit: Patients from maternity units, surgical centers, or those with certain exclusions such as no documented antibiotic prescription will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve antibiotic prescribing practices, leading to better treatment outcomes for patients with antibiotic-resistant infections.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is based on recent recommendations, similar studies evaluating changes in antibiotic testing have shown potential for improving treatment outcomes.
