What this trial studies

This study assesses the long-term clinical performance and periodontal health of teeth restored with CAD-CAM crowns, comparing those with deep margin elevation (DME) to those without. It involves a retrospective analysis of patient records from multiple private practices in the UAE, focusing on adult patients who received lithium disilicate crowns between 2013 and 2023. Clinical evaluations will be conducted by independent prosthodontists using standardized criteria, and radiographic assessments will be performed to evaluate the outcomes. The study aims to provide insights into the effectiveness of DME as a restorative technique.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult patients who require a crown and are eligible for either DME or standard crown placement.

Not a fit: Patients with poor oral hygiene or active periodontal disease may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the longevity and health outcomes of dental crowns for patients.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored crown restoration techniques, this specific approach to DME in CAD-CAM crowns is relatively novel.
