Evaluating brain artery narrowing in cannabis users
Prevalence of Intracranial Arterial Stenosis in Regular Resin of Cannabis Users Compared to Control Subjects: a Preliminary Study of Feasibility

What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the prevalence of intracranial arterial stenosis among asymptomatic regular users of cannabis resin compared to a control group. Participants will undergo cerebral MRI and MRA to evaluate the condition of their brain arteries. The focus is on understanding the potential link between cannabis use and the risk of ischemic stroke in young adults. By comparing cannabis users with non-users, the study seeks to provide insights into the vascular health implications of cannabis resin consumption.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are regular users of cannabis resin who are asymptomatic.
Not a fit: Patients who are taking vasoactive medications or other illicit drugs may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify potential risks associated with cannabis resin use, informing safer consumption practices.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on cannabis resin users, studies on cannabis and vascular health have shown mixed results, indicating this area is still being explored.
