What this trial studies

This study examines the use of photo-based artificial intelligence algorithms to assess the difficulty of intubation with double lumen tubes in patients undergoing thoracic surgery. By analyzing images captured before and during the intubation process, the AI aims to provide real-time feedback to anesthesiologists, potentially improving the success rate of these complex procedures. The study focuses on the efficacy and reliability of these algorithms in enhancing airway management and reducing complications associated with difficult intubations.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who are scheduled for thoracic surgery and require double lumen tube intubation.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing emergency surgeries or those with ASA classifications of 4 and above may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the safety and effectiveness of intubation procedures for patients undergoing thoracic surgery.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in airway management is a growing field, this specific application of photo-based algorithms for double lumen tube intubation is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
