What this trial studies

This study evaluates the impact of an active learning-based educational intervention on evidence-based practice (EBP) competencies among undergraduate physiotherapy students. Conducted at the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, the intervention is integrated into a four-month Research Methods course and involves group activities such as literature searches, critical appraisals, and presentations. The study employs a pre-post quasi-experimental design without a control group, assessing primary outcomes like students' beliefs and perceived skills in EBP through a validated questionnaire. Secondary outcomes include academic engagement and student satisfaction, measured at multiple time points throughout the course.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are undergraduate physiotherapy students enrolled in the Research Methods course at the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza.

Not a fit: Students who withdraw from the course or do not complete the follow-up evaluations may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance the EBP competencies of physiotherapy students, leading to improved patient care in their future practice.

How similar studies have performed: While similar educational interventions have shown promise in enhancing EBP competencies, this specific approach is novel in the context of physiotherapy education.
