What this trial studies

This study focuses on the development and evaluation of the Practice Resource for Driving After Stroke (PReDAS), which aims to assist occupational therapists in assessing whether stroke survivors can safely resume driving. The resource provides evidence-based guidelines and tools for screening, decision-making, and communication regarding driving post-stroke. By addressing the challenges faced by healthcare providers in discussing driving with patients, the study seeks to improve the quality of care and support for stroke survivors. Occupational therapists working in acute stroke settings will be the primary participants in this evaluation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are practicing occupational therapists currently employed in acute stroke units.

Not a fit: Patients who are not occupational therapists or who are not working in acute stroke settings will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this resource could enhance the ability of occupational therapists to make informed recommendations about driving, ultimately improving patient safety and mobility.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been pilot studies addressing similar issues, the PReDAS represents a novel approach specifically tailored for occupational therapists in acute stroke care.
