Evaluating a quality of life scale for children with chronic cough in China
Analysis of the Reliability and Validity of the Chinese Version of Child Cough-specific Quality of Life Questionnaire(CC-QoL)

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Chronic Cough Quality of Life (CC-QoL) scale specifically designed for children aged 7 to 14. Currently, there are no appropriate tools to measure the quality of life for children with chronic cough in China, as existing scales are primarily intended for adults. The study will involve questionnaire surveys and follow-ups to compare the CC-QoL with other established measures like the Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ). By validating this scale, the study seeks to provide a more accurate assessment of the impact of chronic cough on children's lives.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 7 to 14 who have been experiencing chronic cough for more than four weeks.
Not a fit: Patients with underlying respiratory diseases or those whose chest X-rays show abnormalities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the development of a reliable tool for assessing the quality of life in children suffering from chronic cough, ultimately improving their care and treatment.
How similar studies have performed: While there is a lack of specific studies validating a quality of life scale for children with chronic cough in China, similar approaches have shown success in other regions.
