What this trial studies

This pilot study aims to assess the effectiveness of COMET-Y, a personalized self-esteem training program, in improving self-esteem among 22 adolescents aged 11-18 with various mental health issues. Participants will engage in weekly sessions of COMET-Y alongside their usual care, completing questionnaires before and after the training to measure changes in self-esteem, mental health, resilience, quality of life, and emotions. The study will also evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of the training from the perspectives of both the youth and their therapists.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 11-18 with low self-esteem and currently receiving treatment for mental health disorders.

Not a fit: Patients requiring acute care or experiencing severe mental health crises may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this training could significantly enhance self-esteem and overall mental health outcomes for adolescents.

How similar studies have performed: While research in adults has shown positive outcomes for self-esteem training, this approach in adolescents is still novel and untested.
