Evaluating a new scan for detecting coronary artery disease

Evaluation of Diagnostic Accuracy of MCG Scan in Suspected Coronary Artery Disease

Observational Amcg · NCT05825911

This study is testing a new, quick and safe heart scan to see if it can accurately detect serious heart problems in patients who have chest pain and are already scheduled for a standard heart procedure.

What this trial studies

This multicenter observational trial aims to assess the diagnostic accuracy of magnetocardiography (MCG) scans in identifying significant coronary artery disease (CAD) compared to the standard coronary arteriography (CAG). Patients experiencing chest pain and scheduled for CAG will be invited to participate by undergoing a non-invasive, radiation-free MCG scan prior to their CAG procedure. The MCG scan utilizes a 96 channel superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) and takes less than ten minutes to complete. The results from the MCG scan will be compared with those from cardiac SPECT stress tests and CAG, with follow-up for major adverse cardiac events (MACE) occurring over 30 days.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 19 years old who are presenting for coronary arteriography due to chest pain.

Not a fit: Patients with implanted cardiac devices, certain arrhythmias, or acute coronary syndrome may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a safer, quicker, and more accurate method for diagnosing coronary artery disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated high diagnostic accuracy for stress MCG scans in identifying symptomatic CAD, suggesting a promising approach.
