What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the ActiveHeal EST (Engage-Sustain-Triumph) Program on occupational resilience, health status, and psychological wellbeing in survivors of prostate and breast cancer. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, receiving 12 weeks of occupational therapy services, or a control group, which will have limited meetings without intervention. The study will involve pre- and post-intervention assessments to measure quality of life and psychological wellbeing, along with feasibility and acceptability surveys for the intervention group. The goal is to determine the program's impact and its acceptability among participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-75 who have been diagnosed with prostate or breast cancer within the last 12 months and have a Karnofsky Performance Status Scale score between 80 and 90.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable or unwilling to participate in activity-based interventions or lack access to necessary technology will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the quality of life and psychological wellbeing of cancer survivors.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies focusing on occupational therapy for cancer survivors have shown promising results.
