What this trial studies

This multicenter study investigates the effectiveness of a structured framework called STARS for assessing rehabilitation and sicklisting in primary care settings. Nine intervention centers implementing STARS will be compared to matched control centers that follow standard care practices. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative measures to evaluate the impact of STARS on patients, healthcare staff, and organizational processes. The aim is to improve the clarity and effectiveness of the sick listing process, addressing common mental disorders and musculoskeletal pain that often lead to sick leave.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 18-65 who are currently sick-listed due to mental or musculoskeletal disorders.

Not a fit: Patients who do not understand Swedish or are unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the rehabilitation process for patients on sick leave, leading to better health outcomes and reduced uncertainty in care.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach is innovative, similar frameworks have shown promise in improving rehabilitation processes in other healthcare settings.
