What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of two different computerized interventions aimed at modifying approach bias in individuals with Alcohol Use Disorder. Participants will be assigned to either a classical Approach Bias Modification program, a modified version that includes a planning strategy called implementation intentions, or a Sham-training. The study will assess changes in approach bias and Alcohol Use Disorder symptoms through a series of tests and follow-ups over six months. A total of 112 patients will be recruited from the Clinique de la Mitterie rehab center.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals receiving treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder who can communicate in French and have access to email.
Not a fit: Patients currently in remission from Alcohol Use Disorder or those with other substance use disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve treatment outcomes for patients with Alcohol Use Disorder by reducing cravings and promoting abstinence.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that Approach Bias Modification programs can effectively promote abstinence in Alcohol Use Disorder patients, suggesting potential success for this approach.
