What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the impact of a healthy food procurement policy on the food environment in public facilities such as schools, hospitals, and workplaces in four municipalities of Bagmati Province, Nepal. The researchers will develop and implement a food procurement policy, which will be endorsed through the legislative process of each municipality. Over a three-month period, the changes in food availability and consumption patterns will be measured to determine the effectiveness of the policy in promoting healthier dietary choices. The study focuses on addressing the rising prevalence of chronic diseases linked to unhealthy eating habits.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study include canteen managers or staff aged 15-59 who are involved in food procurement and service at public facilities within the selected municipalities.

Not a fit: Patients who do not work in or have access to the public facilities involved in the study may not receive any benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could lead to improved dietary choices and reduced chronic disease rates among the population in the targeted municipalities.
