What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the efficiency of the 'Protocole carton blanc' concussion protocol implemented by the French handball federation. It will involve collecting data from players over 18 years old who have received a white card during official matches in the French amateur handball league. Participants will complete a brief questionnaire to provide insights into how concussions occur on the field and the effectiveness of the protocol in prompting medical consultations. The study will span two regular seasons to gather comprehensive epidemiological data.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are male and female amateur handball players over 18 years old who have received a white card during an official match.

Not a fit: Patients who do not participate in the study or have not received a white card during a match will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the safety protocols for concussion management in amateur handball, potentially reducing long-term cognitive impairments for players.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on concussion protocols in other sports, this specific approach in amateur handball is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
