What this trial studies

This is an observational project enrolling adults (≥18) with PCR-confirmed Anaplasma infection seen at the Infectious Diseases department of CHU de Strasbourg. Investigators will collect epidemiological data, clinical signs and symptoms, laboratory and biological findings, treatment given, and clinical outcomes. The goal is to characterize typical presentations, frequency of severe complications (for example cytopenias, respiratory distress, macrophage activation), and outcomes in the local Alsace population. Results will be compared with published series from other countries to refine regional recognition and management.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older with a PCR-confirmed Anaplasma phagocytophilum infection who agree to participate are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People without PCR confirmation, children under 18, or anyone who refuses consent are not eligible and will not benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the project could help clinicians recognize anaplasmosis earlier in this region, leading to faster treatment and fewer severe complications.

How similar studies have performed: Similar observational case series from the U.S. and several European countries have described clinical patterns and supported doxycycline treatment, so the approach is well established.
