What this trial studies

This study aims to improve the reliability of visual field testing in young children by using engaging cartoon videos and audio instructions during the Humphrey perimetry test. The investigators believe that making the test more interactive will help maintain children's attention and improve the consistency of their responses. By addressing the challenges of traditional visual field testing, the study seeks to reduce the number of inconclusive results and ensure that children with potential vision loss receive timely diagnoses and treatment. The study will involve children aged 5 to 8 who have been diagnosed with glaucoma suspect or optic nerve abnormalities.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 5-8 with a diagnosis of glaucoma suspect or optic nerve abnormalities who can complete visual field testing.

Not a fit: Patients who have previously completed a visual field test using Humphrey static perimetry or have cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate diagnoses and better management of eye diseases in young children.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited information on similar studies, the innovative approach of using engaging multimedia for pediatric testing is relatively novel and has not been widely tested.
