What this trial studies

This study evaluates the safety and effectiveness of endoscopic techniques, such as flexible endoscopic septum division (FESD) and per-oral endoscopic septotomy (POES), for treating Zenker's diverticulum, a rare condition characterized by an outpouching at the pharyngoesophageal junction. By using minimally invasive methods, the study aims to provide an alternative to traditional surgical approaches. The research will measure the severity of symptoms in patients undergoing these endoscopic procedures.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients experiencing symptoms of Zenker's diverticulum who are seeking endoscopic treatment.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding will not benefit from this study due to exclusion criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could offer a safer and less invasive treatment option for patients suffering from Zenker's diverticulum.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar endoscopic approaches for treating Zenker's diverticulum, indicating potential for success.
