What this trial studies
This project explores how midwives can lead the implementation of evidence-based quality improvement initiatives in maternal and newborn healthcare in Uganda. It employs a mixed-method research approach, including focus group discussions, interviews, and quantitative health outcome data, to evaluate the effectiveness of midwife-led care. The MIDWIZE model emphasizes the importance of midwives as primary healthcare providers and involves a multisectoral co-creation process to enhance their capacity and autonomy in delivering care. By empowering midwives, the project aims to foster sustainable improvements in healthcare service quality and health outcomes for women and newborns.
