What this trial studies
This project aims to identify behavioral factors contributing to sedentarism among low-income African American women and develop a tailored physical activity education program called BeFit. By collaborating with community partners, the program will address the unique challenges faced by women living in public housing. The initiative seeks to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce the risk of cerebrovascular disease through culturally relevant strategies. Participants will engage in a program designed specifically for their needs, fostering trust and community involvement.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are female tenants of public housing, aged 18 and older, who are mothers of school-aged children and have stable living arrangements.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to understand study instructions or do not meet the inclusion criteria may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve physical activity levels and health outcomes for low-income African American women.
