What this trial studies

This single-blind randomized controlled trial will assign adults who have received a kidney transplant to an emotion-focused intervention based on the Human-to-Human Relationship Model or to a control group, with measurements at baseline, post-intervention, and follow-up. Outcomes will be measured using the Emotion Regulation Skills Scale and a Well-Being Scale along with a personal information form. The intervention consists of structured emotion-focused sessions delivered at the transplant center. The trial is conducted at Akdeniz University Prof. Dr. Tuncer Karpuzoğlu Organ Transplantation Center in Antalya, Turkey.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults over 18 who have had a single kidney transplant, can read and communicate, volunteer to participate, are not enrolled in another concurrent study, and have no major neurological or psychiatric diagnoses are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People with communication disabilities, significant cognitive or psychiatric conditions, prior kidney transplants or multiple organ transplants, or those unable to attend in-person sessions are unlikely to benefit or may be ineligible.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could help transplant recipients manage emotions better and improve overall psychological well-being, supporting recovery and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Psychotherapy and emotion-focused approaches have shown benefits for emotional adjustment after transplantation, but the specific Human-to-Human Relationship Model has limited prior testing in kidney transplant patients.
