What this trial studies
This intervention explores the use of the Feelee app, which allows adolescents to specify their emotions using emojis and collects passive behavioral data through smartphone sensing. Participants will undergo a structured ABA design, starting with a 2-week baseline phase without the app, followed by a 4-week intervention phase where they will use the app daily, and concluding with a 2-week follow-up phase. Clinicians will discuss the collected data during weekly treatment sessions to enhance emotion regulation skills. The study aims to assess both immediate and long-term effects of the intervention on emotion regulation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents currently in treatment at a forensic outreach youth care organization and expected to continue treatment for at least three more months.
Not a fit: Patients with serious psychiatric issues, such as psychosis or high risk of suicide, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve emotion regulation skills in adolescents receiving forensic outpatient care.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using technology for emotion regulation, but this specific approach with the Feelee app is relatively novel.
