What this trial studies

This observational study investigates how shoulder pain affects joint position sense, postural control, tactile sensation, and muscle strength in chronic hemiplegic patients who have experienced a stroke. Participants are divided into two groups based on the presence or absence of shoulder pain, and various assessments are conducted to evaluate their physical capabilities. The findings aim to enhance understanding of post-stroke shoulder pain and contribute to the development of more effective rehabilitation interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 or older who are at least three months post-stroke and have a diagnosis of hemiplegia.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments, significant neurological diseases other than stroke, or prior shoulder surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for shoulder pain in stroke survivors, enhancing their rehabilitation outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into post-stroke pain management, this specific approach focusing on the correlation of shoulder pain with various physical capabilities is relatively novel.
