What this trial studies
This randomized control trial aims to evaluate the impact of consuming PulseOn enriched crackers for breakfast on post-meal blood sugar levels and appetite markers over a four-hour period. Healthy participants will consume either PulseOn crackers or a control wheat flour cracker, with various measures taken before and after consumption to assess glycaemic response and feelings of hunger and fullness. The study will recruit 50 individuals from Sheffield Hallam University and the surrounding area, utilizing posters, emails, and social media for outreach.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy adults over the age of 18 with no underlying metabolic diseases.
Not a fit: Patients who are smokers, pregnant, have food allergies, or are on medications for heart or metabolic diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to dietary recommendations that help manage blood sugar levels and appetite, potentially benefiting individuals looking to improve their metabolic health.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes related to appetite and glycaemic response using pulse-based foods, suggesting potential success for this approach.
