What this trial studies

This study evaluates the impact of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and vitamin D3 injections on periodontal health during orthodontic treatment. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either PRF or vitamin D3 injections on one side of their mouth, while the opposite side will serve as a control. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of these interventions in improving periodontal parameters. A total of 28 participants aged 18-40 with specific dental malocclusions will be recruited from the Faculty of Dentistry at Beni-Suef University.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18-40 with Angle Class I or II dental malocclusion requiring upper canine retraction.

Not a fit: Patients with active periodontal disease, poor oral hygiene, or systemic conditions affecting bone metabolism will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance periodontal health and improve orthodontic outcomes for patients.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of PRF in dental treatments has shown promise, the specific combination of PRF and vitamin D3 for periodontal health in orthodontics is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
