What this trial studies
This study investigates how transfusing fresh frozen plasma during liver transplantation impacts the endothelial condition and short-term outcomes for patients suffering from end-stage liver disease. The approach involves administering plasma to patients undergoing their first orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) and monitoring their recovery and endothelial health. The study aims to gather data on the effectiveness of this intervention in improving patient outcomes post-surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with Child A/B cirrhosis who are undergoing their first liver transplantation.
Not a fit: Patients who have had a previous liver transplant or have significant comorbidities such as hypertension or diabetes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance recovery and overall outcomes for patients undergoing liver transplantation.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited information on similar studies, the approach of using plasma transfusion in surgical settings has shown promise in other contexts, suggesting potential for success.
