What this trial studies
This study investigates how pelvic floor muscle exercises can improve vaginal and sexual health in postmenopausal women experiencing symptoms like vaginal dryness and dyspareunia. Participants will be randomized into two groups, with one group receiving pelvic floor exercises while the other does not. Various assessments will be conducted, including Schirmer's Test for vaginal dryness and questionnaires to evaluate sexual function and pelvic floor symptoms. The goal is to determine if these exercises can enhance quality of life for affected women.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are postmenopausal women who are sexually active and experiencing vaginal symptoms.
Not a fit: Patients with active vaginal infections, a history of malignancy, or those currently using hormone replacement therapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a non-invasive treatment option to improve sexual health and quality of life for postmenopausal women.
How similar studies have performed: While pelvic floor exercises have been explored in other contexts, this specific focus on postmenopausal women's sexual health is relatively novel.
