What this trial studies
This interventional clinical trial aims to investigate the impact of magnesium supplementation on body composition in physically active individuals aged 18 to 30. Participants will take a daily magnesium capsule for 8 weeks while maintaining their usual diet and exercise routines. Body composition will be assessed at baseline, midpoint, and post-intervention using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), and dietary intake will be monitored through the MyFitnessPal app. The study is conducted at Nova Southeastern University, where participants will also receive the magnesium supplement.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are physically active individuals aged 18 to 30 with a BMI between 19 and 30 kg/m2.
Not a fit: Patients who smoke, have chronic diseases, or are taking medications that interfere with body composition may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how magnesium supplementation may enhance body composition in young, active individuals.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on magnesium supplementation and body composition, similar studies on dietary supplements have shown promising results.
