What this trial studies
This study investigates the potential of Jing Si herbal tea (JSHT) as an adjuvant therapy for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is a randomized controlled trial that compares the standard treatment for COPD with the standard treatment plus JSHT. Participants will undergo health-related quality of life assessments, blood tests, and cellular studies to evaluate the impact of JSHT on inflammatory markers and damage-associated molecular patterns. The study aims to explore whether JSHT can improve outcomes for patients experiencing COPD exacerbations and stable phases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with COPD who are willing to participate.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have COPD or are unwilling to participate in the study may not receive any benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new complementary treatment option for patients with COPD, potentially improving their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of herbal remedies in COPD treatment is not extensively studied, other studies have shown promising results with herbal interventions in respiratory conditions, suggesting potential for success.
