What this trial studies

This study investigates how the combined treatment of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) affects energy metabolism in cumulus cells of infertile women aged 35-40 undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). Sixty participants will be divided into two groups, one receiving combined FSH and LH therapy and the other receiving FSH alone. The study will analyze various patient characteristics, infertility history, and mitochondrial function in cumulus cells to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatments. The goal is to understand the mechanisms behind improved IVF pregnancy rates associated with combined hormone therapy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 35-40 with a BMI between 18-30 who are planning to undergo IVF cycles.

Not a fit: Patients with primary ovarian insufficiency, history of oophorectomy, or those receiving oocyte donation will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance IVF outcomes for older infertile women by optimizing hormonal treatment protocols.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown improved IVF outcomes with combined FSH and LH therapy, indicating potential success for this approach.
