What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Hatha yoga and reformer Pilates in improving posture, pain, balance, quality of life, body image, and respiratory function in individuals with hyperkyphosis. Participants will engage in home-based exercises tailored to their assigned group, either Hatha yoga or reformer Pilates. The study will assess changes in posture and related symptoms using standardized measures, including the Cobb angle for spinal curvature. The goal is to determine which exercise modality is more beneficial for individuals suffering from this condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with postural hyperkyphosis who have not received physiotherapy in the last six months.
Not a fit: Patients with other spinal conditions, neurological disorders, or those for whom exercise is contraindicated may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide patients with effective non-invasive exercise options to improve their posture and overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar exercise interventions for improving posture and related symptoms, indicating a promising approach.
