What this trial studies

This study investigates how different food textures, specifically liquid versus semi-solid meals, affect appetite control, gastric emptying, and energy expenditure in healthy young adults. Participants will consume either a protein-rich liquid meal or an isocaloric oatmeal to assess their satiety and energy intake at subsequent meals. The study also examines the impact of adding a caloric drink versus a non-caloric drink alongside oatmeal on energy compensation. The goal is to understand how meal texture influences overall energy balance.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy males and females aged 18-35 with a Body Mass Index between 19-35 kg/m2 and low to medium habitual physical activity.

Not a fit: Patients with chronic illnesses, food allergies, or those on weight loss diets may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into dietary strategies that optimize appetite control and energy intake for better health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have explored the effects of food texture on appetite, suggesting potential for success in this area.
