What this trial studies
This research investigates how consuming three eggs daily impacts metabolic health and liver function in individuals with obesity. The study focuses on the role of choline, a nutrient found in eggs, in lipid metabolism and its potential effects on liver health. Participants will follow a controlled diet for four weeks, during which their metabolic outcomes, including liver enzymes and body composition, will be monitored. The study aims to understand individual variations in response to egg intake based on gut microbiota composition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 30-65 with a BMI over 30 who are non-smokers and willing to consume three eggs daily.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 30 or over 65 years old, vegans, or those with a BMI under 30 will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into dietary interventions that improve metabolic health and liver function in obese individuals.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using whole eggs as a dietary intervention is novel, related studies have shown the importance of choline in metabolic health.
